As parents we all know we truly don’t have a sick day…
We get sick and we keep going. There are tiny humans saying “I want” and “Can I have” as soon as you make contact with the couch. Why even attempt to sit when you know you will have to get right back up again.
Then you have the cleaning… You can’t isolate yourself when you have to take care of everyone else. So you go around with a can of lysol and clorox wipes cleaning everything you just touched because you don’t want your kids to get what you have.
This has been my sick week. For those of you that have had strep throat my heart goes out to you because it has been absolutely miserable. I would rather go through childbirth again than to have this. My first time having it was about 6 weeks ago and then I re-caught it again this week. I changed out my tooth brush, cleaned everything aggressively, and took my antibiotic accordingly. However, here I am again with step.
The last three days I have spent taking naps on the couch and reading “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.” Even though I have been miserable I think it was one of my best sick days. My husband picked up all of the slack. He redirected the kids, made dinner, got them cleaned up and clothed. I just moved to get up to go to the bathroom or make myself some tea.
I personally have a hard time relaxing and will push through everything, but I was thankful to take help from my loving husband.
For those of you out their like me, take your partners help. Speak up and ask for it.
