What Makes a Fun Traditional Easter

Last Sunday was Easter and for my family it was not very eventful. Now normally I am very traditional. I grew up in the midwest. It was a staple to make a dish that could clog an artery. I would go from one grandparent’s house to the next; participating in multiple egg hunts. It is a beautiful memory. Now that I am older my kids experience a less traditional easter. It is just different in california. There is so much diversity that the traditions are different. This isn’t a bad thing but it is not what I’m used to.

For my children they each have their own small fabric easter basket. One is rainbow colored, the other is a bunny. They each get two outfits, a chocolate bunny, and two to three small toys. The toys are something they are currently into. Sometimes I will throw in a swimsuit or some sandals just depends on what they need at that time. So far every year has been an indoor easter egg hunt. Growing up I had a combination of indoor and outdoor depending on the weather. My children experience indoor egg hunts. We just haven’t had the opportunity to do an outdoor one. Regardless, they get about 15 eggs each to find and the candy consist of starburst jelly beans and some type of chocolate.

This year we were able to continue our home tradition but we were unable to make it to my brother and sister in laws for a big family Easter. I unfortunately still had side effects from the seizure I had the night before. I took a morning nap and then relaxed on the couch all day. My children played inside or outside on the back patio. For dinner we had good old Micky D’s and then took another nap right before bed. It was not the Easter I had hoped for but it’s all I could handle. Have you had an Easter that wasn’t what you wanted? What are your Easter Traditions? Share in the comment 🙂
